Automobile & Fittings Import Quota Up 15% in 2003

In 2003, China automobile & fittings import quota will rise
15% over 2002, reaching USD$9.125 billion. Recently, the Announcement
No. 36 of 2002 of Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation
shows that Chinese motorcycle & fittings import quota will
be USD$437million, automotive crane and chassis import quota
will reach USD$138million.
According to the items of WTO for China, from 2002 on, China
would increase automobile & fittings import quota by 15%
every year. Up to 2005, China will delete all license managing
about automobile, motorcycle and fittings.
According to statistics, for the first half of 2002, China automotive
imports has been USD$3.146billion, up 17.9% than the same period
of 2001, and the exports has got USD$1.608, up 25.9% over the
corresponding time last year.
