According to the report of China Industry and Commerce Times, in the forum 2003 on foreign trade and economic pinnacle, Ms. Li Huifen, president of China Mechanical and Electronic Import and Export Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that there are some problems about the export of Chinese mechanical and electronic products, such as they are in disorder and in imbalance and hi-tech industry lacks of competition. That affects the export of Chinese mechanical and electronic at a certain extent and it needs to raise the attention of government and export enterprises.

In 2002, according to the late custom statistics, the export of Chinese foreign trade jumped over USD $300 billion and reached USD $325.57 billion, increasing 32.3%, about half of the total export value.

Ms. Li Huifen also said that the recovery of the world economy, esp. most countries near China promoted the growth of Chinese export as well as USD depreciation provided a good opportunity for Chinese broadening export.

On one hand, entering WTO provides more capacious international market and fair competition opportunity for the foreign and domestic enterprises. The joint ventures in this industry develop quickly.

On the other hand, the persistent development of Chinese economy and the policy of encouraging foreign trade promote export increasing effectively. The disengaging of foreign trade management makes the collective and private enterprises enhanced the growth of export.

Ms Li Huifen commented, the world economy trade in 2003 would go stably and slowly and those obviously favorable factors of Chinese economy development would provide power for the export of mechanical and electronic products.
