Nichimen Chemical Industry Inc. (Japan) and Asahi Inc. (Japan) have established a new joint venture in China, Zhejiang Asahi Bearing Co. Ltd. Zhejiang Asahi will manufacture small machined bearing rings at a new factory in Shaoxing.

Asahi and Nichimen already operate one Chinese joint venture bearing ring factory. Shaoxing Asahi Bearing Co. Ltd. was established in 1995. Shaoxing Asahi, ISO and QS9000 certified, currently produces over 10 million finished rings each month for Chinese bearing manufacturers.

The new venture adds significant capacity to the marketplace for finished rings in China. Competitors include companies such as Xinchang Jinshan Bearing Factory, which produces approximately 8 million finished rings per month.
