Get the Latest NAFTA Certificate of Origin
share to:42K

The expiration date in the upper right corner of the NAFTA Certificate of Origin has been a bit of a moving target lately. However, it seems that the political dust has settled enough for U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) to push the date out to April 30, 2020.

According to the CBP Info Center, the expiration date is just the date that triggers a review of the form by the Office of Management and Budget. It does not indicate that the form is expired. According to the CBP, the NAFTA Certificate of Origin will continue to be valid until it is replaced by a new form.

However, the date is confusing for both U.S. exporters and their customers especially when it shows a date that is in the past. In order to help clear the confusion, Shipping Solutions customers can now get an update on the AMP website that will match the NAFTA Certificate of Origin on the CBP website. Once version 9.12/8.12 is released, the 2020 date will be incorporated into the software and no additional update will be needed.

If you have an active Annual Maintenance Program (AMP) subscription, you can download the update at no additional charge from the AMP website as many times as needed.
