Lock Nuts
Lock nuts also called shaft or withdrawal nuts as per their application, are used to locate bearings and other components on shafts. They also facilitate mounting and dismounting bearings on adapter or withdrawal sleeves. The lock nuts have four to eight equally spaced slots on the outer side.
Some bearing nuts may have locking washers and clips. They are made of deep drawn steeland attached to the shaft nut. There are others that require locking pins and rub screws. Here the nuts are locked in position due to the friction between the locking pins and the shaft threads.
