Timken Awards Scholarships Worth Nearly $800,000 to Students at 24 Locations Worldwide

The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR; www.timken.com) awarded scholarships to 38 children of Timken employees at 24 locations in six countries around the world. The Timken Company Charitable and Educational Fund, Inc., funds the scholarships, with a combined value of $310,000 and a total value of up to $790,000 over four years. The program has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships since its founding in 1958.
The $50,000 Henry Timken Scholar Award recognizes the top-ranked applicant. Renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $200,000, it goes to Austin Eckhardt, the son of Kerry Eckhardt, global business readiness leader in information technology at the Timken offices in Canton. Austin, a graduating senior at Strasburg Franklin High School in Strasburg, Ohio, plans to study mechanical engineering at Grove City College. Selected for $30,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $120,000 each:
* William Liddy, the son of John Liddy, area manager of engineering and maintenance at the Timken facility in Eaton, Ohio, and a senior at Eaton High School, plans to study computer engineering at Case Western Reserve University; and
* Yamini Tiwary, the son of Ashok Tiwary, operator at the Timken facility in Jamshedpur, India, and a senior at Rajendra Vidyalaya in Jamshedpur, plans to study engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
Five students received $10,000 scholarships, renewable for up to three additional years for a total of $40,000 each:
* Kathleen Basile, the daughter of Giovanni Basile, regional manager for Central America and Venezuela at the Timken offices in Boca Raton, Fla., and a senior at Spanish River Community High School in Boca Raton, plans to study sports medicine at the University of Florida;
* Jason Biltz, the son of Scott Biltz, account executive and manager of inside sales at the Timken offices in Canton, and a senior at West Holmes High School in Millersburg, Ohio, plans to study engineering at The Ohio State University;
* Luke Ince, the son of William Ince, electrical maintainer at a Timken facility in Canton, and a senior at Alliance High School in Alliance, Ohio, plans to study petroleum engineering at Marietta College;
* Alyssa Sedgwick, the daughter of Scott Sedgwick, chief engineer at the Timken facility in Mesa, Ariz., and a senior at Hamilton High School in Chandler, Ariz., plans to study mechanical engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University;
* Natalie Wolanski, the daughter of John Wolanski, senior information technology analyst at the Timken facility in Manchester, Conn., and a senior at Southwick-Tolland Regional High in Southwick, Mass., plans to study physician assisting at Quinnipiac University;
In addition, 30 students received $5,000 scholarships:
* Emily Baker, the daughter of James Baker, product and process specialist at the Timken facility in North Canton, and a senior at St. Vincent - St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio;
* Olivia Beam, the daughter of Pamela Beam, continuous improvement specialist – purchasing excellence center, and John Beam, vice president of supply chain for bearings and power transmission at the Timken offices in Canton, and a senior at Hoover High School in North Canton;
* Benjamin Behringer, the son of William Behringer, machinist at a Timken facility in Canton, and a senior at Tuslaw High School in Massillon, Ohio;
* Mallory Capestrain, the daughter of Donald Capestrain, program manager at the Timken facility in North Canton, and a senior at Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio;
* Victoria Ciesielczyk, the daughter of Gary Ciesielczyk, a Timken retiree, and a senior at Tuslaw High School in Massillon, Ohio;
