Shenyang Machine Tool Group to launch European marketing thrust during EMO

Shenyang Machine Tool Group has announced that it will unveil machines designed for sale in Europe at this year’s EMO metalworking show in Hanover, Germany.
The machine tool goliath, one of the world’s three largest producers, said Chairman Xiyou Guan and Marcus Otto, CEO at Shenyang division Schiess Tech GmbH, Berlin, will present the campaign. In an exclusive interview last year, Guan said he wanted to raise his company’s exports to 30% of sales; at the time of the interview, he said they were only 8%.
Talking about the planned introductions for the European market, Guan explained that because the units are “developed with German design skill and built in China, we are combining the best of both worlds”.
Reportedly a manager and engineer who commands much respect in China, Guan is said to have expressed great confidence in German engineering in general and in the capabilities of the company’s German subsidiaries Schiess Tech and Schiess, Aschersleben, in particular.

The Chinese machine tool supplier said the internationalisation of its equipment line will be founded “on products that comply with German standards in terms of availability and quality of finish and that will be produced in China.”
Concept results to be shown for the first time at EMO
The most striking features of the products are said to be their precision and the high quality of their finish. To ensure that this quality remains sustainable, Shenyang said its European unit is currently building up a strong dealer and service network in Germany and other European countries. This includes plans for a centre for spare parts at the Schiess production site in Aschersleben, the company noted. Schiess CEO Otto explained why the supplier chose that location: “Night flights are permitted at the airport in Leipzig, which is nearby. This allows us to guarantee 24-hour service support and the delivery of spare parts.”
The first machines to be built in line with the new concept will be on display at EMO, the company said, noting that they will include a vertical 5-axis machining centre, a 3-axis VMC and a horizontal and a vertical turning unit.
