Index shows continued growth for power transmission/motion control industry in first quarter

Chicago, IL – The Power Transmission Distributors Association’s PTDA Business Index for the first quarter of the year (1Q2015) indicates slowing but continued positive growth. Reinforcing this positive outlook is the overall 1Q2015 PTDA Business Index reading of 67.7, a slightly higher reading than the 4Q2014 reading of 66.4. PTDA’s deeper analysis shows distributors reported more positive business activity and new orders in 1Q2015 than manufacturers, a notable change from the same period in 2014. [Note: The index reading indicates the rate of change compared with the previous period. For example, a reading of 50 indicates no change from the prior period while readings above 50 indicate growth and below 50 indicate contraction. The further the index is above or below 50 suggests a faster or slower rate of change.] The entire 1Q2015 PTDA Business Index report is available for the association’s members through PTDA’s website at ptda.org/index. It includes distributor and manufacturer breakout data in addition to historical data. The PTDA Business Index is modelled after the Purchasing Managers Index and tracks change in business activity, new orders, employment, supplier deliveries, inventories, prices and backlog in the PT/MC industry to arrive at an overall index. PTDA is a global association for the industrial power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) distribution channel.
