A 5 MW offshore wind turbine with the world's largest blade diameter was launched by China Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Corporation on October 15th in Jiangsu, ready for volume production.
It is reported that the unit is designed with the generating capacity 20% or higer over the equivalent equipment in the same wind speed conditions. It is the first 5 MW offshore wind turbine that has passed the low voltage ride through test in China, with independent intellectual property rights, breaking the foreign technology monopoly.
