Sundyne Extends Power Range of Popular Integrally Geared Compressors to 550 HP

ARVADA, Colo., Jan. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Sundyne, a leader in the design and manufacture of API 617 integrally-geared centrifugal compressors commonly utilized for high-pressure process gas services, today announces an updated 550HP compressor gearbox, which provides an economical solution for accommodating higher flow rates and broader design conditions in a compact vertical package.
For over 50 years, Sundyne vertical line-mounted and horizontal base-mounted compressors have set the industry standard for oil- and pulsation-free gas compression, dutifully serving regeneration, boost, vapor recovery and recycle applications in the oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical and refining industries.
The upgraded 550HP compressor gearbox from Sundyne contains new materials and bearings to increase the power rating by 40% over the current 400HP version.
The upgraded gearbox contains new materials and bearings to increase the power rating by 40% over the current 400HP version. Now, a Sundyne compressor gearbox will provide up to 550HP (410 kW) in a single-stage vertical configuration saving space and cost versus a compressor of similar power employing a horizontally mounted baseplate design.
This performance is delivered in one of the smallest footprints possible, with many package configurations possible in as little as 2 square feet (0.6 M3). The 550HP gearbox maintains the compact footprint for the current 400HP model, thus making the re-rated gearbox an ideal compressor for applications where size, space and weight are a primary consideration.
