The balance shield tunneling machine produced by Jinan Heavy Machinery passed the acceptance test

“Pioneer”, the earth pressure balance shield machine produced by Jinan Heavy Machinery for the railway transport Line R3, passed the acceptance test organized by experts, which is the first shield machine meeting the delivery conditions for the Line R3. It is expected to be put into practice in May this year. It is known that the cutter head of “Pioneer”is 6.68 meters in diameter and 85 meters in length and 550 tons in weight. It will be used for the excavation in Section I between Longdongzhuang Station and Mengjiazhuang Station by China Railway No.3 Engineering Group. As scheduled, “Pioneer”will be delivered to the construction site for assembly in March and start excavating according to the condition of the site. In accordance with the schedule, the initial excavation shall start in May. 　A relevant leader of Jinan Heavy Machinery said, in addition to the “Pioneer”, "Vanguard", the other shield machine to used for Line R3 will pass the acceptance test around March 20th . "Vanguard" will be used for excavation in Section III between East Dingjia Station and Ligeng Road Station. The initial excavation is also expected to start in May. Up to now, the construction of railway transport of Jinan city is carried out with 4 shield machines starting excavating at the same time, that is " Exploit I ", "Exploit II", " March I ", "March II", all of which are used in the underground sections in Line R1.
