Nowadays, large production scale of bearing industry has formed and high-tech bearing with good quality has been achieved. Up till now, there have been over 1500 large-scale enterprises with more than 800,000 employees. The annual output hit 2 billion sets, versus 138,000 sets in 1949. Currently 7000 types and 28,000 specifications of bearing can be available.
Currently, the bearing annual output in China hit 2 billion and the production value reached 20 billion. The foreign exchange was 770 million and ranked fourth worldwide. Over 70% needed types and 90% bearings needed in the domestic market can be satisfied. Furthermore, the export has increased at a higher level year-on-year.
In recent decades, many well-known foreign bearing enterprises successively established holding company in China , such as SKF、FAG、NSK、NBM、KOYO、Timken and Torrington, which played a significant role in enhancing design technology, regulating manufacturing management, modernizing the equipment and improving bearing performance.
However, the challenge and competition from foreign well-known enterprises became fiercer, which resulted in enterprises regroup and product structure adjustment.
In addition, the common miniature, midget bearing are still being unnecessary remanufactured. The supply greatly exceeded the demand, which resulted in price war. The technology innovation and improvement would be negatively affected if this phenomenon continued. Some high-tech bearing with added value still depends on import, such as auto bearing, high speed rail bearing. Comparing with the well-known foreign enterprises, there still exist a great gap in some aspects, including bearing performance, price, high precision, low noise, life and reliability.
That is to say, bearing industry is experiencing opportunity as well as challenge. So it’s our first job to grasp these opportunities and improve the survival ability in order to achieve rapid and sustainable development.
While, it is known that bearing steel plays a significant role in ensuring bearing quality, bearing life and reliability. Currently, the bearing steel is booming with the rapid development of bearing industry. According to the incomplete statistics, the annually demand for bearing steel reached 1.5million tons (including High-carbon chromium bearing steel, carburizing bearing steel stainless bearing steel and special bearing steel.).
Optimistically, the oxygen content of bearing steel manufactured in most national key special steel could meet the requirement of the new standard. The oxygen content of die cast bearing in some better company can be controlled in the range of 9-20ppm. Thus it can be seen the oxygen content of the key special steel have reached the advanced international level.
Moreover, the die cast bearing steel of Baosteel Group Shanghai No.5 steel Co.,Ltd has been accredited by SKF. Jiangsu Xingcheng steel Co.,Ltd was specially approved by SKF、FAG、NSK、NTN and bearing components made of bearing steel are allowed to be used in their holding companies in China.
But the overall quality and quality stability of bearing steel are still lagging behind some foreign enterprises. More effort is needed to further improve the quality of bearing and bearing steel.
