New standards released by China railway industry: Focus on locomotive bearings and freight safety.

Published on:09 Apr,2024

Recently, the National Railway Bureau has issued two batches of technical standards for the railway industry, including "Rolling Bearings for Locomotives and Electric Motor Bearings" and "Technical Requirements for Railway Freight Inspection." In addition, the TB/T 3122-2019 "Acoustic Components for Railway Sound Barriers" has also undergone the first amendment.

The release of these two standards involves the technical equipment of locomotives and vehicles and the transportation service standards for passenger and freight transport. Both are revised standards and will take effect from October 1, 2024. The electric motor bearings of locomotives are critical equipment that affects railway operation safety, and railway freight inspection is an important aspect of ensuring the safety of cargo transportation. These standards provide technical guidelines for the design, manufacturing, inspection, and application of railway products, as well as for cargo transportation. They are of significant importance in ensuring railway operation safety and improving product quality.

Furthermore, the published amendment improves the waterproof performance of acoustic components for railway sound barriers, the light transmittance requirements of transparent panels, as well as the testing methods for fatigue resistance and wind pressure resistance, among others. These changes will come into effect from March 27, 2024.

In addition, since all the technical content of "Auxiliary Converters for Electric Multiple Units" (TB/T 3411-2015) has been incorporated into the national railway standard "Converters for Railway Locomotives and Electric Multiple Units" (GB/T 34575-2023), the former will be abolished starting from March 27, 2024.
