Earlier this month, Schaeffler’s plant in Vadodara, Gujarat has been awarded the Schaeffler Technology Center (STC) certificate and is now a part of the corporate Global Technology Network. This was preceded by a multilevel structured process to verify that the local engineers can demonstrate a defined performance spectrum and are able to implement it in their daily work.

The company says its Vadodara unit provides customers across India with comprehensive technical support and speedy advice, even for very complex inquiries. Globally, a further 26 STC ensure that this high level of expertise is available to all customers.

A Schaeffler Technology Center must demonstrate a defined performance range, consisting of 12 competencies relating to rolling bearings. In addition to the necessary product expertise, they are required to have in-depth knowledge in bearing calculation and optimization, condition monitoring, mounting services and reconditioning, for example. Regular training, workshops and follow-up audits ensure that this high standard of knowledge is maintained at all times.

In addition, the STC are in constant contact with the experts from the global sector networks within the Global Technology Network in order to exchange the most up to date information. As before, the sales engineer is the first contact for the customer, but he is now supported by the highly qualified engineers in the respective local STC, when in-depth expertise or major elaborations are required. Schaeffler’s engineering and service expertise is thus brought even closer to the customer and allows for quick and comprehensive support worldwide.

The Schaeffler Group is a leading global integrated automotive and industrial supplier and manufactures high-precision components and systems for engine, transmission and chassis applications as well as rolling and plain bearing solutions for a large number of industrial applications.

Schaeffler, which has been in the Indian market for 50 years now, supplies to all major industrial sectors. The certification to become a Schaeffler Technology Center will help meet growing market requirements in situ and enhance the technological expertise. At the Vadodara site, experts have shown that they achieve – and in most cases even exceed – the requirements in all fields of the performance spectrum specified for STC. The availability of a high degree of technical expertise and comprehensive rolling bearing knowledge is thus ensured for the entire Indian region.

Another STC was recently opened in Bangkok, Thailand and there are plans to develop further centres under the umbrella of the Global Technology Network.
