How Schaeffler Keeps Engineer Pipeline Filled

Published on:19 Jan,2018

Engineers are becoming hard to find for companies in the machinery and automotive fields. However, Schaeffler Group USA's plant in Wooster, Ohio seems to have discovered how to find and retain the best engineering talent. Schaeffler recently invested $60 million to expand the plant, but the apprentice program has really paid dividends for the company. Schaeffler begins recruiting potential engineers before they leave college. Many of these recruits come from area schools. The company's program is so effective that 83 percent of its apprentices stay with the company after they complete their apprenticeship. Schaeffler plans to offer more apprentice positions as it expands its footprint in the electric vehicle industry.
