The SKF TMSU 1 Ultrasonic Leak Detector is a high quality, user friendly, sensitive instrument capable of detecting air leaks through the use of ultrasound. "Leaks are caused by fluid flowing from a high pressure environment to a low pressure environment, creating turbulence," says Peter Brooks, SKF South Africa's Maintenance Product Manager. "The turbulence generates high frequency sounds, (so called ultrasound), that the TMSU 1 can easily detect. The sensitive piezoelectric crystal in the sensor allows the operator to rapidly guide the instrument to the loudest point in order to identify the location of the leak," explains Brooks. The user friendly, compact, lightweight SKF TMSU 1 can operated with one hand and requires no special operator training. The sensor is mounted on a flexible tube, allowing restricted areas to be reached without any difficulty.
