BP Build the Largest Lubricant Base in Taicang

April 13, BP announced that they will invest $22 million to build a global lubricant production base in Taicang, Jiangsu province. The company also held the groundbreaking ceremony of the base that day. Here, in Taicang, will come into being by the end of 2006 the industrial lubricant production base with flexible products mix and the highest efficiency. Meanwhile, it will become the largest one among BP's all lubricant production plants around the world. At present, BP have two bands of products selling in China, BP and Castrol. All these products are supplied by BP Guangdong plant and other coordinating suppliers. There are some products are imported from other BP plants in Asian & Pacific Region, Europe and American. In addition, BP spokesman said that they had planned a localization of production in China, after the founding of Taicang plant. Design annual capacity of this new plant are 45,000 tons of high performance industrial lubricant and metal cutting fluid. The annual capacity will reach 70,000 tons in 2010. In this prospective plant, over 400 kinds of products can be made by using 500 different raw materials. BP's activities in China include production and import of natural gas; supplying aviation fuel; importing and marketing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG); retail service stations; production and sale of lubricants; solar power installations; joint venture chemical plants and the sales of chemicals technology.
