Waste Help Laigang Steel Group Save RMB200,000

Recently, Laigang Steel Group steel strip subsidiary managed to make good use of some "waste", saving them over RMB200,000 in equipment expenditure. Generally, bearings for finish rolling machine rollers will become fatigued when the machine's output reached 100,000 tons. If there are no timely replacement of the bearing, it may lead to bearing's thermal faceting or even more serious roller break. Therefore, the bearings have to be changed in a certain interval and after being removed from the machine, it will be thrown as waste. Accidentally, a careful staff in Laigang noticed that some of the "waste" bearings are slightly worn. Althrough it can not be used on the finish rolling machine, it might be suitable for a common rolling machine. Having carefully measured and calculated the technical indicators of the "waste" bearing, comparing with the operating requirements of common rolling machine, the company succeeded in practising a trial running of such waste bearing on a common rolling machine. Enlightened by the success, the company began to fully exploit the previous waste, many of which can be reused after proper processing. It is estimated that all the reused "waste" has saved them over RMB200,000. Laigang Steel Group, situated in Laiwu, Shandong province, was founded in 1970. With total assets RMB34 billion, they have become a large steel group, having 29 subsidiaries, annual output exceed 10 million tons. Their products include H type steel, hot rolling sheet, deformed steel bar, special steel, bearing steel, gear steel etc.
