SKF Begin Investing Auto Market in China Sept. 14, SKF organized an activity, "SKF China Technology Day", in Shanghai, on which they announced another SKF wholly controled company, SKF Shanghai Auto Technology Co.,Ltd, is preparing. Mr. Roberts, general manager of SKF Auto division China, said that the new plant is due to open in April 2007, coinciding with SKF's 100 Anniversary. The new plant will be in Jiading district, Shanghai, covering an area of 17,000 square meters. Now the construction work has been finished and the first production line for Generation-III wheel hub bearing unit has been assembled. Mr. Zhu yingjian, general manager of SKF Auto Bearing Co.,Ltd, revealed that the new plant will employ a fully localized purchase mode, matching the policies and aspiration of state government in advancing localization of auto industry. Mr. Zhu added that to name the company with "Auto Technology" presented SKF's desire to meet the ever-expanding demand in China's auto market. SKF will go along with the growing trend of auto industry in China. With the technological improvement of auto and parts assembly makers, producers of basic parts should not be satisfied with making existing products, they should provide systematic services with specific functions to reflect the advantages of their brand. In this regard, SKF are likely to develop all related products and services, if necessary, to attract more customers in China.
