Taiwan Bearing Exports Up 17%-Bearing News

The Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry reported industrial product and equipment exports are up 3.7% in the first two months of 2008, but bearings were among the leading export gainers, far above that number. Machine tools led export gainers, up 16.3% from 2007, followed by special-purpose machinery up 11.3%. Bearings, along with certain gears and ball screws, had a 60-day export total of nearly USD $100 million, up 17.2% from 2007. That puts bearings up to sixth on the list of Taiwan's machinery and equipment exports by value so far in 2008. Mainland China and Hong Kong were the primary export markets for Taiwanese goods, but the United States was second, taking 15.7% of exports.
