The Gateway To The 380 Million Consumer Market Of The East African Region
The 12th Industrial Expo Kenya International Trade Exhibition to be held in July 2009 is all set to present over 10,000 products, equipment and machinery from over 30 countries. The number of exhibitors and visitors in 2009 is expected to rise by at least 20% since an aggressive campaign has been launched while celebrating the event's 12th birthday. Trade visitors from all over East & Central African countries are being invited directly and in collaboration with several regional trade bodies in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Uganda, Somalia, Mozambique & Zaire. Though Kenya by itself is one of the biggest markets in Africa, major emphasis is being laid upon attracting traders and importers from neighboring countries.
Why Kenya : With its own population of 34 million approx., Kenya also caters to the regional East African market of over 380 million consumers. In simple words, it is the largest importer and re-exporters of goods to neighboring African countries. Last year, the event attracted exhibitors from 30 countries including France, Italy, Kuwait, Thailand, Malaysia, Singpore, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Oman, Pakistan, South Africa, Phillipines, Zambia, Egypt, Brazil, Kenya, U.A.E, SaudiI Arabia Turkey, Yemen, U.K & Tanzania
Business transactions last year
The response was overwhelming as 85% of the exhibitors reported high business prospects. The exhibitor survey indicated prospective and confirmed business transactions worth US$ 21 million during the 4 days of the event itself.
Visitor statistics of last year
A total of 12,300 trade visitors attended the exhibition. More than 1,800 overseas trade visitors visited the exhibition from countries like Burundi, Hong Kong, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, & Mozambique.
