Goldwind Names New President

China’s top wind turbine maker Goldwind has appointed its current chief of international business Wang Haibo to the role of president, replacing founder Wu Gang who had held the role on a temporary basis. Wang, aged 39, was previously vice-president of the company, and is an executive director. In a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange, Goldwind explains the move simply as being “for the further development of the company”, without offering additional details. Wu will remain chairman of the board and chief executive at the firm. Wang will report directly to Wu and is expected to take care of the day-to-day operations at the company. Wang joined Goldwind in 2001 and has been involved in the firm’s marketing centre, investment development and wind farm operations arm Tianrun. He took on the role of general manager of Goldwind International in January 2011. Since then, Goldwind’s international operations have expanded significantly, with the company investing in and supplying major projects in the US, Australia and Latin America. Guo Jian, a Chinese wind industry veteran, had held the post of president at Goldwind for several years until resigning in March 2012 for health reasons.
