Domestic News
The sales of many kinds of engineering machinery rose sharply and the industry thereby is expected to keep rebounding.
Recently, the sales figures of subdivision industry of engineering machinery have been released in succession in January. According to the statistics by China Engineering Machinery Trade Online(www.21-sun.com), the total sales of 25 excavator enterprises involved reached more than 4500 units in January, up 54% year on year, remaining a strong increasing trend after a growth rate of 70% for four consecutive months.
The price of steel per ton hits a new high over 4 years. China Iron & Steel Association posted that the steel market in later period will not desirable.
After years of downturn in the winter, the iron and steel market showed some signs of fluctuation after the Spring Festival with the steel price most obviously rising. Up to February 22nd , the price of domestic comprehensive steel was 4055 yuan/ton, hitting a new high since March 2013. Reporters of National Business Daily noticed that it had been 4 years since the domestic steel price exceeded 4000 yuan/ton last time, with the price of domestic comprehensive steel at 4182 yuan/ton.

US turns into “oil nation” with record exports, 'eating' OPEC market share
It is reported on CNBC news in the morning of Feb. 24th Beijing Time, according to Energy Information Administration data, U.S. producers sent 1.2 million barrels of crude oil onto world markets last week, up nearly 200,000 barrels a day from the week earlier and about 350,000 barrels above the four-week average. Until recently, the U.S. was exporting about 500,000 barrels a day. The U.S. exported a record amount of crude oil, topping a million barrels a day for a second week and filling the gap in world markets created by OPEC cutbacks.

Vale’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization（EBITDA） in the fourth quarter of 2016 was $4.77 billion, substantially higher than the same period last year, that is $1.39 billion, as well as the market expectation, that is $4.4 billion.
II. Raw material and ferroalloy market
This week, among the five categories of raw materials, the prices of imported ore, domestic ore, pig iron rose,while that of scrap steel,coke declined; The price of ferrowolfram and ferrovanadium remained flat over last week; The price of ferroalloy high chromium, silicon manganese, high manganese and electrolytic nickel decreased compared with last week, whereas that of ferromolybdenum went up.

III. Trend of Price Index of Special Steel in China
1. Up to December 2nd , the price index of special steel reached at 111.2, up 2.10% over last week and rising 4.89% over last month.
2. The category of Synthetic index involved in carbon steel, gear steel, bearing steel, spring steel, die steel.
3. According to the trend of price index, the price of special steel will continue to see a slight consolidation next week.

4. The index herein means weighted index , with the weight of each category made on the basis of its percentage of the total consumption of special steel over one year. The price adapted is the knockdown price of of major inventory markets by week..
5. The base date of the index is January 1, 2007 , with its value at 100 points.
6. According to the weight of latest categories in 2010, data in each day will have a deviation of 2-3 point. To ensure the continuity of the data, the index is not adjusted and the index based on the new weight is only for tracking prices.
IV. Ex-factory Prices of Superior Special Steel Manufacturers
This week, we tracked 83 superior special steel manufacturers, of which 17 mills released ex-factory pricing information, 1 mills remained flat, 16 mills raised their ex-factory prices. The ex-factory adjustment of prices only involved products such as a few bars and optimal wire rods, up 50 to 150 yuan/ton.
