Two New Automotive Bearing Standards Released, Targeting Critical Components in New Energy Motors and Engines

On May 9, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially issued an announcement (No. 7 of 2025), approving and releasing a total of 1,128 new industry standards and 9 foreign translations. These standards will provide unified technical specifications and quality basis for multiple manufacturing fields in my country.

Among this batch of standards, there are two related to the field of rolling bearings, which are for new energy vehicle drive motor bearings and tensioner and idler bearing systems in traditional fuel vehicle engines. Both standards will be officially implemented on November 1, 2025, marking an important step in the standardization of auto parts in my country.

Standard 1: "Rolling bearings for new energy vehicle drive motors"

The standard number is JB/T 15046-2025, which is specifically for ball bearings used in drive motors, which are key transmission components in the power system of new energy vehicles. Its content covers many aspects such as product model naming rules, external dimensions and specifications, structural design forms, and performance parameter settings.

At the same time, the standard also clarifies the quality management requirements for the entire process, including the inspection process, inspection items, identification methods, rust prevention treatment, packaging and transportation, etc., which should be implemented before the product leaves the factory. It is applicable to high-speed ball bearings with a dm•n value of not less than 70,000 mm·r/min. Such bearings are usually used in complex working conditions such as high speed, high temperature, and high vibration, and have higher requirements for material stability, fatigue life and lubrication performance.

The introduction of this standard will help improve the technical level of core components of domestic new energy vehicle drive motors, promote vehicle performance improvement, and enhance the independent controllability of the industrial chain.

Standard 2: "Rolling Bearings Automobile Engine Tensioner and Idler Bearings and Components"

The standard number is JB/T 10859-2025, which is a comprehensive revision and upgrade of the original 2008 version of the standard. This standard applies to tensioner bearings and idler bearings used in belt drive systems inside automobile engines, as well as integrated units consisting of bearings and other components.

The new version of the standard further refines product classification, technical indicators, test methods and other contents on the basis of the original, and strengthens the quality control requirements in the production and manufacturing process, including finished product testing, logo printing, protective packaging and other links.

As engine technology develops towards high efficiency and energy saving, the stability and durability of such bearings have become important factors affecting the performance of the whole machine. The update of this standard will help improve the technical level and consistency of related domestic products and meet the increasingly stringent supporting needs of OEMs.
