【Silicon Nitride】10-Billion-Yuan Silicon Nitride Project in China Zhejiang Sees Phase I Plant Completed

Stepping into the modern factory of Gaofu Advanced Materials (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., 57 high-performance advanced electric furnaces and a series of other cutting-edge equipment are neatly arranged. The project, with a total investment of 1 billion yuan, aims to produce 5,000 tons of high-purity, high-performance silicon nitride powder and related components annually, and has now fully entered the equipment installation phase.

"Currently, the Phase 1 factory building has been completed, and we have invested 85 million yuan in equipment, accounting for about 20% of the total equipment budget," said Hou Huarui, the company's deputy general manager. Notably, the demand for customized equipment is particularly prominent, requiring adjustments to process parameters and equipment modifications to achieve specific functionalities.

By making good equipment investments, the company has achieved significant efficiency gains. Automated systems precisely control temperature and mix raw materials, while online testing provides real-time monitoring of particle size, purity, and other indicators. These two factors, working together, can shorten production cycles and achieve an estimated 20%-30% efficiency improvement. Furthermore, yield is expected to increase from the traditional 75% to over 90%, significantly reducing costs and increasing efficiency, thereby strengthening market competitiveness.

It is understood that the project has purchased various advanced equipment for the production of high-purity, high-performance silicon nitride powder and devices. Silicon nitride powder production utilizes a sintering process involving silicon powder and nitrogen, a non-metallic material processing technology. Its core goal is to achieve a densified structure through high-temperature treatment that creates physical bonding (e.g., diffusion and melting) between powder particles. This process primarily aims to optimize the material's physical properties (such as strength and wear resistance) rather than altering its chemical composition. Upon completion, the project will have an annual production capacity of 5,000 tons of high-purity, high-performance silicon nitride powder and devices.

Gaofu High-Tech Materials (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd., located in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, was established in July 2024. Its business scope includes electronic device manufacturing; sales of specialized electronic materials; manufacturing of non-metallic mineral products; manufacturing of specialty ceramic products; sales of non-metallic minerals and their products; sales of specialty ceramic products; and research and development of new materials technologies. The company has over 20 years of technological expertise in silicon nitride and has established strong partnerships and collaborative development with leading domestic and international companies such as Kyocera, Huawei, BYD, and Sinoma. The completion of this project will significantly boost the development of the global silicon nitride industry.

Silicon nitride has a wide range of applications, and the products of this project can be used in new energy vehicles, rail transit, aerospace, and other fields. It is a key component in new energy vehicles, wind power, optoelectronics, semiconductors, and other fields. It is also the most suitable packaging material for third-generation semiconductor silicon carbide chips.

After the project is completed, it will break the production deadlock of traditional technology and have the advantages of stable production technology, reliable performance, short production cycle and large output. After reaching full production, the annual output value will reach more than 1.5 billion yuan.
