Kick-off Meeting and Draft Seminar Held in Beijing for Technical Specifications for Oil-to-Electric Conversion of Hydraulic Excavators and Wheel Loaders
On July 24, 2025, the kick-off meeting and draft seminar for two group standards—"Technical Specifications for Diesel-to-Electric Hydraulic Excavator Conversion" and "Technical Specifications for Diesel-to-Electric Wheel Loader Conversion"—were held in Beijing. The event was jointly organized by the Agent Working Committee, the Dual-Carbon Working Committee, and the Equipment Management and Maintenance Branch of the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA).

The meeting was attended by distinguished guests including Qi Jun, Honorary President and Special Advisor of the Association, and Director of the Expert Committee; Li Jianyou (online), Deputy Director of the Expert Committee; Wang Jinxing (online), Deputy Secretary-General; Song Jinyun, Director of the Standards and Regulations Department; Di Pengyuan (online), Secretary-General of the Dual-Carbon Working Committee; Yang Zhifang, Secretary-General of the Agent Working Committee; and Zhou Fulong, Secretary-General of the Equipment Management and Maintenance Branch.
During the session, participants reviewed the progress and summarized the outcomes of the two group standards: Technical Specifications for Diesel-to-Electric Hydraulic Excavator Conversion and Technical Specifications for Diesel-to-Electric Wheel Loader Conversion. Discussions focused on the fundamental principles, technical approaches, and safety requirements for formulating these standards.

Qi Jun emphasized the importance of following the national goals of "carbon neutrality and carbon peak," and emphasized the importance of standard setting. With nearly 10 million units of construction machinery currently in China, he expressed hope that the development of standards would promote the healthy development of the industry and standardize the conversion of oil-to-electric tractors.

Li Jianyou pointed out that converting tractors from oil to electricity is a technical solution for implementing the dual-carbon strategy and achieving electrification in construction machinery. He urged the experts attending the meeting to examine not only the scientific nature of the technology but also the feasibility and practicality of the standards' application, thereby developing high-level, high-quality, and highly applicable exemplary standards.

Wang Jinxing highly praised the preliminary work done in developing the two standards, noting that they align with national strategic objectives. He cited recent changes in environmental protection policies in Beijing and Tianjin as examples to illustrate the timeliness and importance of developing standards for converting tractors from oil to electricity. He emphasized the impact of the standards' release on the entire industry and supply chain, striving to ensure high-quality and implementable standards.
Other experts attending the meeting included Jia Zhihui, Vice President of Shijiazhuang Tianyuan Technology Group Co., Ltd., Gao Yanhui, Chief Engineer, and Li Yahui, Director of the Quality Control Center; Ying Huping, Chairman of Hefei Bolante New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Zhang Yongsheng, Director of Electrification R&D; Chen Cao, General Manager of Qianlima Engineering Machinery Remanufacturing Group Co., Ltd.; Jing Chen, Director of Investment and Development of Guangzhou Juhe Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd.; Ma Junwei, Project Leader of the Oil-to-Electric Conversion Project of Guangzhou Juhe Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd.; Xu Guiyang, Modification Factory Manager of Jiangsu Lihao Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd.; Li Guoqing, Technical Manager of Ruinuo (Jinan) Power Technology Co., Ltd.; Chen Huaifeng, Service Director of Shandong Linwo Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd.; Li Wei, Deputy General Manager of Zhejiang Shangchi Electric Co., Ltd.; and Diao Xianwei, Deputy General Manager of Aftermarket of Chongqing Huigong Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd. (online).

The successful convening of this meeting further standardized the development of the two group standards for oil-to-electric conversion of tractors, clarified the development tasks and objectives, and laid the foundation for continuously improving and enhancing the quality and level of industry services.
