China Largest Onshore Wind Farm Enters Operation
On September 14, the Inner Mongolia Energy Urad Middle Banner 1.5 million kilowatt wind storage base project, the first single largest onshore wind power project in my country to use 10 MW generator sets on a large scale, was officially put into commercial operation.
Located in Ganqimaodu Town, Urad Middle Banner, Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia, the project utilizes 150 10MW wind turbines, making it China's largest onshore wind power "giant array."
Wang Jie, a service engineer at Sany Heavy Energy, stated: "Our main engine features two additional "ears" on either side. This is due to our innovative side-mounted box-type transformer technology, which optimizes the load-bearing capacity of the turbine. We also utilize dual bearings with enhanced strength, ensuring more stable and reliable drive train operation. The turbine weight has been reduced by over 5%.
These ultra-large wind turbines utilize all-carbon fiber blades with a larger root diameter of 3.6 meters, increasing the blade root load capacity by over 26%. During operation, the blade tip is further away from the tower by over 12%, significantly enhancing blade safety. Furthermore, the turbines in this project utilize 1.7-meter main bearings, which offer significant advantages in width and thickness, increasing load capacity by over 20% and significantly improving overall turbine safety."
