The bearing press-fitting room at the Hami Maintenance Workshop of Urumqi West Rolling Stock Depot has been officially put into operation
On October 15, in the press-fitting room of the Hami maintenance workshop of the Urumqi West Vehicle Depot, with the first wheelset successfully completing the running-in and all parameters passing the inspection, it marked that the bearing pressing process line of the workshop was officially put into use, effectively improving the maintenance capabilities.


Due to the previous expansion and renovation project at the Hami axle depot, the Hami maintenance workshop had to transport axles awaiting press assembly to the Wuxi axle workshop for work in the first three quarters of this year. This process was complex and time-consuming.
To establish a unified approach across the entire section, contribute to overall transportation safety, and alleviate production pressure at the axle workshop, the Hami maintenance workshop proactively overcame challenges such as limited space and staffing, and actively worked to restore its own bearing press assembly capabilities.
Bearing press assembly is a critical step in wheelset maintenance, requiring extremely high standards for environmental cleanliness, temperature, and humidity. Yang Zhanshan, deputy director of the workshop, explained that to meet operational standards, the workshop polished and installed flooring, installed four air conditioners to ensure temperature control, sealed windows for dust prevention, and equipped them with shoe cover dispensers. Access was strictly controlled to ensure environmental parameters met the requirements for commencement of work.
While four key personnel supported the axle workshop, the remaining four personnel simultaneously carried out equipment commissioning and trial production. To ensure the smooth resumption of the production line, workshop management carefully evaluated and coordinated the installation and commissioning of the new equipment, including axle press assembly, cover closing, and run-in. From equipment positioning and process integration to performance testing, rigorous checks were carried out at every station and step. During this period, six optimization measures were developed and eight risk issues were rectified, effectively ensuring the integrity of equipment performance and reliable maintenance quality.
In addition, the workshop and teams developed a detailed learning plan and organized specialized skills training for operators to ensure that every employee mastered the technical requirements and operating standards, laying a solid foundation for completing bearing press assembly operations to high standards.
Previously, the workshop delivered approximately 350 to 400 wheelsets per month to the Wuxi Axle Workshop for press assembly. The commissioning of the new line has fundamentally changed this situation. To date, the Hami Maintenance Workshop has independently completed the press assembly and run-in of 71 axles, providing strong support for the section's decisive fourth quarter and final victory.
