China Achieves Breakthrough in Industrialization of Full-Dynamic-Pressure Air Bearings

On November 28, 2025, a conference focusing on core technologies in high-end manufacturing was held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shougang Park, Beijing—the "World's First Industrialization Project of Fully Dynamic Air Bearings" was officially unveiled. This marks a significant breakthrough for my country in the field of ultra-precision bearings, breaking through long-standing foreign technological blockades and achieving, for the first time, complete self-reliance and large-scale application of this "bottleneck" technology.

All-dynamic air bearings, due to their advantages such as non-contact operation, zero wear, and ultra-high rotational precision, are regarded as the "heart" of high-end equipment and are widely used in key areas such as semiconductor lithography equipment, aerospace propulsion systems, and precision medical instruments. In the past, this technology was monopolized by a few developed countries, severely restricting the independent development of my country's strategic industries.

This breakthrough, led by the Beijing Pujian Air Bearing Technology Application Research Institute in conjunction with the Composite Materials Research Institute, represents 25 years of continuous research and development. It achieved full-chain innovation in areas such as configuration design, special material development, and micron-level processing technology, ultimately establishing a complete technology system with mass production capabilities, filling a gap in domestic industrialization.

At the press conference, two innovative products based on this technology were launched simultaneously: one is a high-efficiency, low-noise heat dissipation module for AI supercomputing data centers, which can significantly improve server thermal management efficiency and reduce energy consumption; the other is an ultra-high-speed micro blower, which, with its high speed and compact structure, is suitable for scenarios such as avionics cooling and portable medical devices, precisely addressing the industry's urgent need for high-performance micro power sources.

The event attracted widespread attention from government, industry, academia, and research sectors. Former Vice Minister of Science and Technology Wu Zhongze, Information Economy Expert of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Wu Suoning, and Lu Jun of the Internet Society of China delivered keynote speeches. Several academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering provided technical guidance. Representatives from leading companies in the industry chain, such as CETC Chip and AnTai Technology, participated in discussions and reached several strategic cooperation agreements to accelerate technology implementation and ecosystem building.

Luo Lifeng, Dean of the Pujian Research Institute, pointed out that this achievement is not only a technological leap but also a crucial step for my country towards becoming a manufacturing powerhouse. In the future, the team will continue to expand application scenarios, deepen collaborative innovation, and promote the greater role of fully dynamic air bearings in the global high-end manufacturing system, injecting Chinese solutions into the world's industrial upgrading.

This release not only demonstrates my country's independent capabilities in the field of cutting-edge basic components but also provides new possibilities for the diversified and resilient development of the global high-precision manufacturing industry chain.
