INVISTA announced in a press release on Sept. 23 that it will discontinue production at its facility in Maitland, Ontario. According to the company, the decision reflects current market conditions rather than employee performance.

As part of the transition, production of Dytek A® will be relocated to INVISTA’s site in Victoria, Texas. The company also stated that it will maintain the strength and availability of its Texas-based hexamethylene diamine (HMD) assets.

The site exit is expected to begin in the coming months. According to the press statement, key shutdown milestones and activities will be phased to ensure a safe, orderly, and compliant process. INVISTA said it will fully comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements during the transition.

Approximately 100 roles directly supporting Maitland operations will be impacted. The company stated that all affected employees will be eligible for severance benefits and emphasized its commitment to treating employees with dignity and respect throughout the process.

“This decision is not a reflection of [the employees’] efforts, but rather a reality of today’s market environment,” said Brook Vickery, INVISTA president and CEO, in the press release. “Our top priority now is ensuring the continued safe operation of our plants as we work through the changes necessary to implement this decision.”
