C&U Group Sets Up Global R&D Headquarters in China Minhang

On February 28th, the Shanghai Municipal Government held a press conference, announcing that the 2026 Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference and "Invest in Shanghai" Week will officially open on March 14th, with the main venue located in the Shanghai Oriental Hub International Business Cooperation Zone. Minhang District will hold the "2026 Minhang District Investment Promotion Conference and Commercial Aerospace Industry Promotion Conference" on March 16th. Simultaneously, special inspection routes focusing on commercial aerospace and the low-altitude economy will be launched, allowing participants to conduct in-depth on-site inspections of industrial parks and leading enterprises.

Long Shaosheng, Party Secretary and Vice President of C&U, who attended the press conference, told a reporter from The Paper that this was the group's first time being invited to participate in the Shanghai Global Investment Promotion Conference. "Participating in such a conference is an excellent exchange platform for our group and our global upstream and downstream partners, as well as related universities and research institutions. It allows us to provide our customers with more R&D support and product iteration upgrade services. Customers can also translate their needs into our design inputs; it's a two-way exchange."

C&U is currently the largest and most comprehensive bearing manufacturing group in China, and the only Chinese company among the top ten global bearing manufacturers. Long Shaosheng stated that Shanghai is a very unique city with a rich industrial cluster. Almost all the equipment and application scenarios required for bearing products can be found in Shanghai. Talent is crucial for the research and development of high-end bearings, and Shanghai's talent attraction policies are well-known. After comprehensive consideration, C&U decided to locate its global R&D headquarters in Pujiang Town, Minhang District, and officially commenced construction on January 7, 2026.

“We chose Pujiang Town in Minhang District for two reasons. First, it's close to universities like Shanghai Jiao Tong University and East China Normal University, which have abundant talent resources. Second, it has the necessary applications for high-end bearings, such as robots, industrial machine tools, low-altitude aircraft, and energy-saving and new energy vehicles. It's no exaggeration to say that our neighbors are our customers and our talent pool,” said Long Shaosheng. “Furthermore, our interactions with local business and service departments have been very smooth in recent years, with high levels of collaboration and administrative efficiency.” Long cited the example of the C&U's global R&D headquarters project. Before construction began, relevant departments at the city, district, and town levels came to the site to screen for potential factors affecting construction and quickly resolved the issues, allowing the project to start on time.

According to the plan, the group's global R&D headquarters and intelligent manufacturing project will cover more than 300 acres and will be constructed in two phases. The first phase is scheduled for completion in 2029. “At this investment promotion conference, we will have more than five networking and exchange sessions with upstream and downstream partners, including research institutions, suppliers, and application customers. This is a very valuable platform and opportunity.”
