Chinese Bearing Market Focus : Robot Bearings Set to Become a 100-Billion-Yuan Market

On the 2026 Spring Festival Gala stage, humanoid robots stunned the audience with their high-difficulty maneuvers. AI technology continues to break through, and even OpenAI is increasing its investment in hardware manufacturing—few people know that behind the flexible operation of these intelligent devices lies a seemingly insignificant core component—bearings.
On February 26th, Morgan Stanley released a research report, bringing robot bearings into the industry spotlight. The report points out that bearings are an essential component for robots, with no alternative technology, and high barriers to R&D and manufacturing. The complexity of a robot is directly proportional to the quantity and value of bearings used. Their calculations show that the global robot bearing market will surge from the current $800 million to $255 billion by 2050, an increase of over 300 times.
The core value of this sector has also been recognized by leading companies. OpenAI's latest hardware procurement requirements list precision bearings as one of the six key components for robots. Overnight, this "small part," long hidden inside machinery, has become a hot sector in the robotics industry.
What's less known is that Linxi, a county-level city in Hebei Province, had already strategically positioned itself in the emerging robotic bearing industry, gaining a first-mover advantage in this billion-dollar opportunity.
The Linxi County Party Committee has explicitly stated that it has identified new energy vehicles and robotic bearings as core development directions. This isn't just empty talk; it's a series of concrete industrial initiatives that have laid a solid foundation for the research, development, production, and industrialization of high-end robotic bearings.
On the technology research and development front, Linxi has jointly established the China-Serbia (International) Bearing Industry Shared Laboratory with the Serbian company Z&S, with a total investment of over 80 million yuan. Since its operation in September 2025, the laboratory has completed testing on 3,871 products from 38 bearing companies, significantly reducing the testing cycle for high-precision bearings from two weeks to one or two days. The laboratory has four resident Serbian technical experts who have brought three advanced European processes. Currently, they are focusing on tackling high-precision bearing testing technologies, breaking through key bottlenecks in the bearing "research and development—pilot testing—industrialization" process, and providing core technological support for the upgrading of Linxi's robotic bearing products towards ultra-precision, long-life, and modular designs.
In terms of intelligent manufacturing, Linxi has built the bearing industry's first "lights-out factory"—the 110,000-square-meter intelligent workshop of CEIS (Linxi) Bearing Co., Ltd. Relying on the "industrial brain" digital twin technology, it achieves online collaborative production of over 10,000 types of bearings across nine categories, with an annual output of 70 million sets of precision modular bearings, fully meeting the large-scale demand for precision modular bearings across various industries.
Currently, China and Serbia are also planning to jointly build a "China-Serbia High-End Bearing Joint R&D Center," focusing on tackling industry challenges such as material improvement and process optimization to further enhance the core competitiveness of its products.
Regarding globalization and industrial ecosystem construction, Linxi leverages CEIS's channel resources, establishing overseas warehouses in Serbia and simultaneously building bonded warehouses in Southeast Asia. Its products are exported to over 90 countries and regions in Europe and America, achieving coverage of core markets in Europe, America, and the Asia-Pacific region for bearings and other products.
Market data also confirms the positive trend of the bearing industry in Linxi. In January 2026, the Linxi Bearing Index reached 105.48 points. Although it slightly decreased by 0.03% month-on-month due to a slowdown in downstream procurement before the Spring Festival, it increased by 1.13% year-on-year, with the central price of bearings steadily rising.
Currently, Linxi County has 617 large-scale bearing enterprises and more than 3,000 bearing-related enterprises. In 2025, the annual output value of the bearing industry reached 31.178 billion yuan, with an annual production capacity of 1.2 billion sets. This massive industrial scale and complete industrial chain give Linxi a first-mover advantage in the domestic substitution of robot bearings and global competition.
