SKF Joins Hands with Guangxi Railway Group to Usher in a New Chapter of Independent High-Speed Rail Bearing Maintenance

At this crucial stage of China's high-speed rail development towards high-quality growth, the reliability of core components and localized maintenance capabilities have become the cornerstones for ensuring operational safety and efficiency.

Recently, SKF, a global leader in bearing technology, and Guangzhou Railway Group's Guangzhou EMU Depot successfully held a cooperation ceremony to celebrate the successful completion of the first batch of locally-maintained high-speed rail bearings. This milestone marks a historic leap from zero to one in their cooperation, laying a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in the future.

This cooperation is a key strategic deployment of China State Railway Group and Guangzhou Railway Group, and is of great significance to enhancing the comprehensive operation and maintenance capabilities of Guangzhou EMU Depot. Leveraging its years of experience in the rail transit field, SKF fully empowered the project implementation by providing cutting-edge technology and customized solutions. Both parties fully utilized their respective localized advantages and professional technologies in the railway industry to jointly build an efficient maintenance system and successfully promote the launch of the first batch of locally-maintained bearings.

Li Huasheng, General Manager of SKF China's Railway Business Unit, stated at the event: "This efficient collaboration not only built a bridge for the integration and innovation of Chinese and foreign technologies, but also injected strong momentum into the localization process of high-speed rail bearing maintenance." Li Bangwei, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou EMU Depot of Guangzhou Railway Group, also highly praised SKF's technical support, pointing out that the successful implementation of this project represents a crucial step towards gradually achieving complete independent control over high-speed rail bearing maintenance.

As a significant achievement of the cooperation, SKF has officially obtained local maintenance qualifications, and its dedicated bearing maintenance line located in the sixth-line test depot of the Guangzhou EMU Depot has been put into operation. This not only means that the maintenance of key components can be completed locally, but also, relying on SKF's global technological accumulation, creates a more efficient and reliable new paradigm for operation and maintenance of China's high-speed rail, powerfully promoting the independent upgrading of the industrial chain.

Looking to the future, this successful rollout is just a new starting point. Both parties will continue to deepen cooperation, continuously improving independent maintenance capabilities, optimizing equipment availability and operation and maintenance efficiency, and safeguarding the safe, stable, and long-term operation of high-speed rail.
