23,200 Bearings Suspected of Infringing Koyo Trademark Seized
Recently, during an inspection of a batch of motorcycle parts declared under General Trade for export, customs officers at Huadu Customs District, Guangzhou Customs, found that the shipment, declared as “no brand,” carried the “Koyo” logo on the inner bearing packaging, the bearings themselves, and the product instructions. Upon verification with the relevant rights holder — JTEKT CORPORATION (Japan), the owner of the “Koyo” trademark — the goods, totaling 23,200 bearings, were confirmed to be suspected of infringing the exclusive trademark right. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, any import or export of goods that infringes intellectual property rights protected by the laws and administrative regulations of the People‘s Republic of China shall be subject to confiscation of the infringing goods and the imposition of a fine by the customs authorities; where the act constitutes a crime, criminal liability shall be pursued in accordance with the law.
