Expert : Developing New Information Technology of Short Process Steelmaking Integration to Promote High Quality Development of Iron and Steel Industry

Since this year, domestic steel demand is strong, China ' s steel industry efficiency continues to improve. At the same time, under the constraints of carbon peak and carbon neutralization proposed by China, China ’ s steel industry is also facing great carbon reduction pressure.

At a colloquium held on 21st by the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, Xu Kuangdi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that at present, 90 per cent of China 's iron and steel industry steelmaking relies on a long process, i.e. iron ore with coke and limestone entering the blast furnace to produce molten iron, entering the converter to produce molten steel, and then casting into billets through continuous casting, rolling into products and consuming very large amounts of carbon.  Short process technology, using scrap steel to produce steel, energy consumption is very low, mainly melting and refining, remove the ' reduction ' of this energy consumption of the largest link, carbon emissions are also greatly reduced.

From a practical point of view, an effective technical scheme to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutralization is to vigorously develop short process steelmaking from the adjustment of industrial structure.   ’ Xu Kuangdi said.

In Xu Kuangdi ’ s view, at present, China ’ s car ownership is huge, and there are more and more scrapped cars, which will form a large amount of scrap steel accumulation.  In the future, there may be a number of professional enterprises recycling used cars, dismantling packaging after the formation of scrap, and then sold to iron and steel enterprises.

In addition to green development, it is worth noting that the high-quality development of China 's steel industry needs to vigorously develop high-end steel and continuously improve the level of intelligent manufacturing.

Major projects of new materials in China involve steel, special alloys, special steels and other aspects. Lightweight accounts for a very important proportion of these materials.   Qian Yong, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the director of the National Advisory Committee of Experts on the Development of New Materials Industry, said that the new tasks of the steel industry at this stage are mainly structural adjustment, improving the quality of development and moving towards a green ecology. It is necessary to integrate new practical technologies, especially new information technologies.

Intelligent manufacturing can not only promote the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry to a modern industrial system with high efficiency and high added value, but also contains a series of new formats and new models of growth space.   'It is necessary to integrate intelligent technologies such as intelligent sensors, fifth-generation mobile communication, Internet of Things, industrial Internet, artificial intelligence, digital twinning, big data and cloud computing into the process of iron and steel manufacturing, and cultivate new for steel development. ’ He Wenbo, secretary of the CPC Committee of the China Steel Association, said.

Shen Bin, President of China Iron and Steel Association, said that in the future, China ' s iron and steel industry should focus on the fundamental task of comprehensively improving the industrial foundation and industrial chain level, adhere to the two development themes of accelerating green development and intelligent manufacturing, and focus on solving the three pain points of controlling capacity expansion, promoting industrial concentration and ensuring resource security, continuously promoting the internationalization process, and doing a good job of ' stabilizer ' and ' ballast stone ' for the stable operation of China ' s economy.
