Igus will exhibit at Seawork at the ABP Port of Southampton for the first time this year. The show runs from 13th to 15th June 2006 and Igus will be on stand S19. Problems with maintaining metallic bearings in underwater applications are eliminated with Igus maintenance free bearings. They are self-lubricating and lightweight and so are ideal for offshore, underwater or other corrosion exposed applications. They have a high resistance to wear, temperature and chemicals and high shock absorption. They also offer a long service life and provide substantial cost savings. Igus has the most involved knowledge and largest product line in polymer plain bearings today. Igus engineers develop more than one hundred new plastic compounds and test these in more than 2500 experiments each year. As a result, they have been able to build an extensive database of each compound's tribological properties. Igus has the data to precisely predict the lifetime of its bearings in a given application. In a new application area, test facilities can be used to determine how the bearing will perform. Special design bearings are also possible.
