As part of SKF's continued focus on Sustainability the company has become an official partner of the Shell Eco-marathon 2006. This race for sustainable mobility fully reflects SKF's commitment to industrial growth that is respectful of the environment. For several years, SKF has been involved with the event by supplying a large number of teams with advice and products. SKF is proud to be helping many of the young competitor's education by providing information on highly technical issues which has been at the core of the company's existence and development for almost 100 years. To help competitors to make the most of their vehicles during their design activities SKF set up a technical hotline on the SKF France Internet site (skf.fr) to support all participating teams. Specialists have been on-line to provide advice regarding vehicle weight reduction, how to reduce friction, correct use of lubricants etc – and proposing products suited to the specific needs of their own vehicle. During the race, from 18th to 21st May, on the Nogaro race track (Gers, France) there will be specialists on hand at the SKF stand to answer questions and give advice to competitors on various aspects of "automotive mechanical engineering", an industry it has served for almost a century. For SKF, sustainable development is a matter of responsibility. It is a question of ensuring the success of our operations, for the present and for the future, while taking care to preserve the resources that will be needed by future generations. That is why SKF has been selected, for the 6th consecutive year, to be in the Dow Jones' Sustainability World Indexes, the worldwide index of the most advanced companies in the area of sustainable development.
