Trelleborg Acquiring HCRD Polymer Bearing Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (a division of Trelleborg, Sweden) is acquiring Hydro-Components Research and Development Corp. (HCRD; website) of Streamwood, Illinois. HCRD manufactures high-precision polymer plain bearings and sealing devices for bearings and shafts, primarily hydraulic cylinders. The company's particular specialty is large diameter applications. HCRD's bearing product line includes nylon polymer bearings in sizes from 0.5" ID through 20.00" ID (12mm - 500mm). Standard sizes are available, and radial wall and length can be made to customer specification. Wall thickness tolerances can run to +/- 0.0005". Concentricity is held to 0.002" for sizes 9" and smaller. Most bearings are available in any of four nylon polymer options. The sealing system product line is also focused on high-grade nylon-based materials, but with features such as internal lubricants and high temperature ratings. Applications include heavy-duty cylinders such as shock absorbers for earth moving equipment, dumpers and diggers.
