The First Batch of 65Mn Steel for Overhead Cranes and Rail Transit Wheels Successfully Delivered by Lvliang Jianlong

Recently, Lvliang Jianlong's first batch of 65Mn steel for crane and rail transit wheels was officially delivered to TZ, which will be used specifically for the manufacturing of core components for rail transit wheels, adding important support to the localization process of rail transit materials in my country.

Currently, the national strategy of independent control over high-end equipment and the localization of rail transit materials is being implemented in depth. The independent supply of steel for core components has become crucial to ensuring the security of the industrial chain and reducing dependence on foreign countries. TZ, as a leading enterprise in my country's heavy machinery manufacturing industry, has accumulated profound experience in core components such as rail transit wheels and wheelsets. Its products cover the entire spectrum of rail transit equipment, and it possesses production qualifications in multiple locations worldwide. It has stringent requirements for the quality standards and supply stability of its supporting materials. To promote the localization of key materials, TZ and Lüliang Jianlong have launched a special cooperation project focusing on the research and development and production of 65Mn steel for railway locomotives and rail transit wheels.

65Mn steel, as a core basic material for manufacturing wheels for railway locomotives, freight cars, and urban rail vehicles, has extremely stringent requirements for performance indicators such as purity, uniformity of microstructure, fatigue resistance, and wear resistance. To this end, Lüliang Jianlong assembled a cross-departmental technical team, relying on an advanced integrated clean steel production platform combining converter-LF-VD-continuous casting, focusing on core process challenges such as carbon segregation control, non-metallic inclusion removal, and improved compositional uniformity. Multiple rounds of trials and optimizations were conducted, and mass production officially commenced in January 2026.

The successful production of 65Mn steel for crane and rail transit wheels is not only a significant breakthrough for Lüliang Jianlong's transformation into the high-end special steel sector, but also a concrete practice of the upstream and downstream industrial chain's collaborative efforts to promote localization.
