Timken India Steps Up Services Business Outsourcing of services is not just about offshoring, as Timken India has shown. MillTEC, its service solution for the steel industry, is growing with Timken. MillTEC has added two new clients to its earlier three in its production BPO. Timken India, which is targeting a growth of 23-25% annually for the next few years in India, is also stepping up its services business. Currently, services account for 5% of its total revenues, said company director (sales & marketing) David L White. It had unveiled the MillTEC initiative, developed in India earlier this year, when Mr White had stated they could take it to other markets. “We are expanding our onsite business and services is our fastest growing business unit. We will expand the service offering in segments where the replacement market is active,” Mr White said. These segments could be thermal power plants and the railways. Timken India, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the $5-billion US bearings major, has launched a mobile distributor training school, replicating a 50-year initiative from its home market. The van will take maintenance training to the end user, the first time the US practice has been replicated in an overseas market, company managing director Gordon Robinson said.
