The design team finally selected the Spyraflo pillow block; self-aligning bearing that could stand up to the rigours of being mounted on the steel fabricated cutting deck/chassis of the mower.At the same time they had to carry the load, including shock load and facilitate easy raising and lowering of the cut platform. Spyraflo worked closely with the engineers to produce a custom yellow zinc plated steel version of the standard Spyraflo PB-625-B aluminium pillow block, which completely met the stringent specification requirements. The results have been outstanding with trouble free mowers being a great marketing and user success, so much so that Spyraflo now supplies these bearings across a range of mowers with cut widths ranging from 120 to 180mm.
