NTN Develops World's Highest Load Capacity Tapered Roller Bearings with High Rigidity for Automotive Transmissions NTN Corporation (hereafter NTN) has developed “Ultra high load capacity tapered roller bearings with high rigidity” for use in differential gears of automotive transmissions; where usage conditions are becoming increasingly more severe. In recent years it has been found that in order to increase fuel economy for environmental conservation and improved driving comfort, increases of engine output and number of gear shift stages of the transmission need to increase. With regards to bearings, this creates a need for downsized, weight-reduced bearings, while maintaining the same or increased load capacity without changing bearing boundary dimensions. In response to such requirements, NTN has developed and been manufacturing since 2005, “High load capacity tapered roller bearings” that contain the maximum number of rollers (almost the same number of rollers as a full complement type roller bearing). Now, NTN has developed “An ultra high load capacity tapered roller bearing”, designed to maximize roller length by means of eliminating the inner ring's smaller rib and uses a new type of plastic cage that prevents roller fall out. Furthermore, NTN's own longer life technology, FA heat treatment, is applied to this new product making it smaller and lighter, while providing longer life. NTN will market this product globally, contributing to automotive weight reduction and improved fuel economy. [ Features ]
