SKF Duplicate Bearing Seized in India

The Munnar Police has seized a duplicate bearing supplied by a dealer to be used at KSEB’s Mattupetti Power House. The issue came to light when the experts in the Electricity Board rejected the bearing pointing out that it was a lowquality product. The KSEB Moolamattom Circle office had invited quotations for supplying four bearings to be used for the coupling system in the generator at the Power House. After winning the contract for supplying the bearings at a low cost, a company called Premier India Bearing Limited issued the bearings to the Board. Later, during verification by experts it came to light that one of the bearings was duplicate and a low-quality product from Japan. It was found that the name of the manufacturer was removed from the bearing and a duplicate seal of SKF, a Swedish company, was pasted on the bearing. Following the information, the officials of SKF company came from Bangalore and verified the bearing. It was found that the standard seal of SKF has been misused by the dealer. The authorised dealers of SKF bearings is Ajit Bearing Company in Ernakulam.
