GGB Bearing Technology, formerly Glacier Garlock Bearings, now offers a 32-page designer’s handbook for its greaseless, maintenance-free HPM™ and HPF™ filament wound bearings for hydropower applications such as turbines, gates and valves. Combining the self-lubricating properties of PTFE with the strength and stability of a glass-fiber-filled epoxy resin backing, the bearings provide high load capacities, excellent shock and edge loading resistance, low friction and wear, long service life, low water absorption, and excellent corrosion resistance. Covered in the new publication are general characteristics of the bearings, their structure, composition and properties, mating materials, lubrication, lifetime estimation, installation, recommended dimensions, ISO tolerances and data sheet for bearing design.
