Timken Introduces New Maintenance Manual and Training for Aircraft Landing Wheel Bearings

Landing wheel bearings from The Timken Company are a top choice of aircraft wheel and brake designers for use on private, commercial and military platforms worldwide. These bearings are engineered to perform consistently across the most extreme ranges of temperature, acceleration and braking. For aircraft overhaul shops, Timken is now offering its Aircraft Landing Wheel Bearing Maintenance Manual, which details standardized aircraft landing wheel bearings inspection and maintenance procedures. The manual draws on the knowledge Timken engineers have collected throughout the company's more than 75 years of experience serving the industry. "Timken’s expertise in aircraft landing wheels is behind thousands of smooth landings happening worldwide each day," said Mike Barre, market manager – Aerospace and Defense. "Our new guide provides operators with important information to assist them in evaluating and maintaining their landing wheel bearings." The manual is included in Timken's new extensive training designed for the overhaul shops that handle landing wheel bearings. The training program is conducted on-site by a qualified and experienced Timken service engineer who specializes in aircraft landing wheels. The training includes a review of shop procedures with hands-on instruction about best practices ranging from bearing removal, cleaning and inspection through lubrication, installation, setting/adjustment and storage areas. Due to the specialized nature of this training, there is a limit of 20 students per session.
