Bearing Giant is "Grabbing" Chinese Wind Power Market

Timken Company has signed an order of $26 million with Goldwind Science and Technology in 2010 and established a joint venture with Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Corporation Ltd (XEMC) to manufacture extra large size wind power bearings. US is intend to carry out a 301 survey on China new energy field.
One of the three largest bearing manufacturers in the world and the largest bearing manufacturer in North America---Timken Company has told the reporter recently that there may be some dispute between the governments, but Timken Company put a heavy emphasis on the development of Chinese wind power market and taking part in the grow of Chinese wind power companies. The company will pay attention to the long-term customers and continuously achieve the business growth.
As the largest manufacturer of tapered roller bearings, Timken Company has been involved in the wind power industry in the 70s of last century while left this field in 90s. Nowadays, the company has come back to the wind power market again. The transformation in China market is most obvious.
It is learned that the wind power generator solutions of Timken Company have won the favor of domestic wind power generator manufacturers. One of the three largest enterprises in domestic wind power generator market---Goldwind Science and Technology Co., Ltd. has signed an order of $26 million Timken Company in 2010 and chose the wind power bearing and technological service of Timken Company for its 1.5 MW and 2.5 MW wind power generators.
According to Timken Company, China is taken as the first strategic highland and "home market". The emphasis attached to environmental problem in China bring good opportunity for the development of Timken Company. The company will continuously enlarge the cooperation in the following five yearsin Asian market, especially in Chinese market and change the Chinese enterprises from "Made-in-China" to "Created-in-China".
However, Timken Company said that in the future they will not enter into Chinese solar energy field due to the limited machinery instrument.
It is learned that the sales of Timken products in Asian market has taken up 12% in the total sales of the company, in which most part is from China. Besides wind power, Mr. Feng Shilong, the President of Timken China indicated that Timken Company will also attach importance to Chinese high-tech industry such as transport, avigation, machine tool and heavy duty truck,etc.
