Baosteel & ZWZ Group Jointly Developed Bearing Steel for 2MW Wind Turbine Spindle

The reporter learned from ZWZ group that the company and Baosteel Group Co., Special Steel Division have succeeded in jointly developing bearing steel for the spindle of 2MW wind turbine and signed the supplying contract of 100 tons. The products will be delivered to Dalian soon. ZWZ Group was established in 1938, which is the origin of China bearing industry and is the largest bearing manufacturer in China at present. In recent years, ZWZ Group has aimed at the potential market of wind power in China and energetially impelled the development and trial manufacture of wind power bearing and heavy equipment bearing to replace the imported ones. Last year, one foreign wind power bearing users put forward strict quality requirement to ZWZ group. They required ZWZ to apply the special bearing steel for 2MW wind turbine to ensure that the service life of bearing can reach 20 years and above. At that time, there was no steel plant in China which can meet the requirement. Based on many years' favorable cooperation with each other, ZWZ Group has highly trusted the Special Steel Division of Baosteel Group, and therefore, they decided to solve the problem together and develop the bearing steel for 2MW wind turbine to replace the import ones. During the development, the two parties have done research in the steel slab quality, which may influence the product service life. After the concerted cooperation, the development finally succeeded.
