ZKL Adheres to Tradition - OPEN HOCKEY GAME 2011 (pic)
An unusual event called OPEN HOCKEY GAME 2011 took place in Pardubice on 2 January 2011. It was a spectacular hockey exhibition show held in the open ice-rink. The ice-rink was built for this event on the speedway stadium in Svítkov with a capacity of 25 thousand visitors. There were held two matches, first the legend teams with original names of ZKL Brno and Tesla Pardubice competed, and after there was seen the match of contemporary extra-league teams.
Brno legends match took place outdoors in the replicas of period master ZKL jerseys from the sixties. Because right during that age the team played under the auspices of ZKL and won a total of 11 major titles. Equal duel ended with a fair result of 3:3.
In the following league match HC Kometa Brno encountered domestic HC EATON Pardubice. Both teams played the first period in the replicas of historic jerseys and the players of HC Kometa Brno entered the match with the ZKL jerseys on. The first period took place in severe snow conditions and Kometa hockey-players won it 2:0, although the match finally did not end with victory for them.
ZKL Group through this event adheres to the history and tradition and to the one of the most famous age of Brno's hockey. About the future and the possibility to re-establish the mutual cooperation will be hold further discussions with representatives of HC Kometa Brno.
