(Feb 15, 2011) The ethical business approach of Brammer, the UK’s leading supplier of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products and services, has been confirmed by achieving membership of SEDEX. An independent organisation for companies committed to the continuous improvement of the ethical performance of their supply chains. SEDEX - the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange - is a not-for-profit membership organisation, based in London, but open to companies anywhere in the world. Membership helps companies to manage ethical and responsible practices within their supply chains, with a focus on labour standards, health & safety, environment and business integrity. Other SEDEX members include Bacardi, Britvic, Cadbury, Danone, Diageo, Kraft, Mars, PepsiCo, Nestlé, Unilever, United Biscuits, Procter & Gamble – many of whom are Brammer customers - all committed to ensuring responsible sourcing. Brynn Woods, Purchasing and Supply Chain Director at Brammer, explained: “As well as strong product availability, competitive pricing and the provision of value-adding services, many manufacturing customers now also use ethical business practices as an important criterion in supplier selection. “Brammer has always maintained a responsible, ethical approach to all aspects of its business. We operate rigorous quality, health and safety and environmental policies throughout our business and are committed to minimising supply chain waste and reducing energy usage at both our own facilities and those of customers. We are also a member of the leading edge SAFEcontractor scheme, which recognises very high standards of health and safety practice among UK practitioners in a wide range of sectors. “SEDEX membership provides independent recognition of our commitment to maintaining and furthering robust ethical practices in our supply chain - and a further guarantee to both existing and potential customers that Brammer operates ethically in all areas of its business.”
