(March 17, 2011) We express our heartful compassion for those affected by the Tohoku Pacific Coast Earthquake that occured on March 11, 2011, and hope for a rapid recovery in the areas affected. This notification is to inform you of the effects of the earthquake on MISUMI Group Inc. (as of March 17, 2011). 1.The safety of MISUMI employees MISUMI Group employees were free of bodily harm. 2.Effects on offices and other sites (1) Effects on production sites Suruga Production Platform's Shimizu Plant (located in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture) is operating under normal conditions. Also, operations at the Shimizu Plant were unaffected by the earthquake that occured in the eastern part of Shizuoka Prefecture on March 15, 2011. Operations have been halted at the Lwaki Plant (located in Lwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture); however effects on facilities and equipment were minor. Currently production activities at the MISUMI Group Inc. remain free of substantial impediments. (2) Effects on logistics centers Operations at our logistics centers were impacted, but we expect a gradual return to normal conditions. (3) Effects on sales offices Our Sendai Sales Office has halted operations due to infrastructure interruptions. Operations ordinarily performed by the Sendai Sales Office are being supported by the Head Office. 3. Effects on business performance If the effects of the earthquake cause us to expect a substantial impact on our earnings, we will promptly disclose the relevant information.
